White sandy beaches, crystal clear water, the spectacular backdrop of huge limestone cliffs and the endless hospitality of the locals transform Thailand's largest island into a tropical holiday paradise. Relax on the gorgeous sandy beaches of the west coast and go cycling or hiking along the tropical jungle landscapes and waterfalls in the island's interior. Are you looking for entertainment and a lively nightlife? Then the popular Patong Beach is the place to be. Karon and Kata beaches are much quieter, but offer a wide range of water sports. When dusk falls, you can end the day in one of the many beach bars on Surin Beach. At Bangtao Beach you will find both simple beach bungalows and luxurious 5-star hotels. The beach is ideal for those who don't want a lot of hustle and bustle, but still appreciate a couple of restaurants and bars.

Phuket also has a lot to offer for those interested in culture: Wat Chalong is the largest temple complex on the island and has a beautiful chedi with typical southern Thai influences. The Big Buddha, a 45-metre-high sitting Buddha, is enthroned in the centre of the island of Phuket, from whose foot you have a magnificent view over the island and sea.
Phuket Town, the capital of the province, is in itself a unique attraction that has retained its incomparable charm despite the flourishing tourism of recent decades.
